The process of shoemaking takes a remarkable trajectory of multiple steps. Let’s have a look at what our craftsman has to say.

A step-by-step guide to the shoemaking process:

We walk you through the steps where a shoe is made from scratch. A well-crafted shoe comes from the creative thinking of a craftsman and manifests in 3D through various processes. You will be amazed at the sequence of steps carried throughout the behind-the-scenes of shoemaking at a private-label shoe company.

Designing:

This is the first step in the shoemaking process. As aforementioned, designing is the creative and curated thinking birthed from the brain of a craftsman and put on paper. The design’s main aims are the shape, size, and type of shoe that fit the consumer’s needs. This is the essential stage of the shoemaking process. Some companies use hand-crafted blueprints, while some other companies use software tools and techniques.

Shoe lasts:

The shoe lasts to make the shoe molds and has the job of shaping the size, outline, and silhouette of the shoe. The shoe lasts an eye for detail which encompasses accurate size information. This step is crucial as the mold should behold the accurate and precise details of the shoe according to the consumer’s needs and wants. This outlines the exact shape of the human foot with standard size and muscle density.

Stamping :

Stamping is outlining the leather and cutting the leather into a beautiful silhouette of the shoe that meets all the customers’ requirements and is marked. This makes the confusion less as the pieces of leather for the shoe are stitched together in the next step. This stage should be accurate as possible. Any extra piece of leather can cause dumb finishing of the shoe and would look highly unprofessional.

Sewing :

The following process after cutting the leather piece for the shoe is the sewing process. This process involves stitching the leather piece together compactly to skin the shoe. The upper part is stitched, and then the lining. And it is reinforced with a toe cap and a counter. The sewing process accurately folds the edges and makes it look finessed. This completes and changes the whole look of the shoe. The outsole is sewn with premium quality leather, such as Goodyear Welt.

Assembling :

This is the process where all the pieces are put together. All the components, including the one that is stitched, are also included in the assembling process. At first, the insole is temporarily attached to the lasts with nails. A rubber ridge is placed on the insole to give support when sewing. The insole is lasted and glued to the outsole with hot glue and nails.

Adding a shank for a support :

A shank is added in between the insole and the outsole. This gives the desired comfortability and support to the foot and also gives a proper shape to the shoe. Fiberglass and steel are generally used for this purpose. And then, it is glued to the insole and finished with touch.

The shoe room :

The shoe room is the last stop of the bus, where the assembled shoe is handed on to the finisher for the final touch. Any imperfections on the shoe are corrected and made perfect. The shoe laces are threaded and polished with a high-shine shoe polish to make them beautiful and look stylish. This is the final stage of every shoemaking process before landing on the shoe racks of the store.

That’s how shoes take birth!

That was the overall process of making a shoe. The behind-the-scenes of making a shoe is genuinely awe-inspiring yet surprising. Hoog Store has a systematic process of building a shoe, from selecting suitable raw materials to processing and packaging. And all ate done so perfectly!
